The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has pointed out that pursuing high-quality development is our overarching task. We must adhere to the theme of pursuing high-quality development. We will make sure that our implementation of the strategy to expand domestic demand is integrated with our efforts to deepen supply-side structural reform; we will boost the dynamism and reliability of the domestic economy while engaging at a higher level in the global economy; and we will move faster to build a modernized economy. We will raise total factor productivity, make China's industrial and supply chains more resilient and secure, and promote integrated urban-rural development and coordinated regional development, so as to effectively upgrade and appropriately expand China's economic output.

China is committed to its fundamental national policy of opening to the outside world and pursues a mutually beneficial strategy of opening up. China adheres to the right course of economic globalization. “We will steadily expand institutional opening up with regard to rules, regulations, management, and standards”, “speed up the building of a major trade nation”, and endeavor to “preserve the diversity and stability of the international economic landscape and economic and trade relations.” All these deployments have provided underlying support and foothold for China’s determination to open up to the outside world.

In its active response to the requirements of the party and the state for the general direction of future economic development, the Asia International Institute for Strategic Development will conduct studies and researches on the international trends of economic and technological development that are relevant to the development of enterprises, with an aim to enable enterprises to develop in consistence with social progress, serve the society and contribute to human health. The Institute will liaise with well-known figures in the fields of domestic and international politics and economics, strategy, and business management; carry out relevant strategic researches; study the scientific and capital investments by enterprises; facilitate the listing process of enterprises; and build a platform for international cooperation and exchanges. All these activities illustrate the duty, mission and responsibilities of the Institute.

The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has provided a clear and important roadmap for China's future development, and pointed to the direction and goals for the high-quality development of enterprises. It has also opened up new opportunities for the development of Chinese enterprises.

Under the new situation, enterprises have an urgent need to understand and look into a series of questions. How could Chinese enterprises correctly understand the requirements for building a modern socialist country in all respects? How can they upgrade and transform themselves in the new era? How can they use innovation as the driving force to promote high-quality development of enterprises? How to improve the quality and level of international circulation and accelerate integration into a modernized economic system? How to correctly understand the series of deployments stated in the report, such as “steadily expanding institutional opening up with regard to rules, regulations, management, and standards”, “speeding up the building of a major trade nation”, and endeavoring to “preserve the diversity and stability of the international economic landscape and economic and trade relations”? How to create greater social value by increasing talent training and developing public welfare undertakings?  How to closely combine the destiny of the enterprise with that of the country, and more actively participate in the implementation of major national strategies to become a respected global enterprise? These are some of the questions.

In this context, the Asia International Institute for Strategic Development has the great pleasure to organize this forum, inviting leading experts and scholars to discuss and explore all these fields, so that useful information and assistance can be provided to enterprises.
